11-23-11 Almost Persuaded

Today's Reading: Acts 24-26

Acts 26:27–29
27 King Agrippa, believest thou the prophets? I know that thou believest. 28 Then Agrippa said unto Paul, Almost thou persuadest me to be a Christian. 29 And Paul said, I would to God, that not only thou, but also all that hear me this day, were both almost, and altogether such as I am, except these bonds.

Its amazing what Paul had to go through as he stood trial for witnessing, but what is more amazing is how close King Agrippa came to believing Christ.  Who knows the full reason for his rejection.  He might have been concerned with what others watching would have thought or perhaps he was concerned Paul was completely sure of what he was talking about. Either way Agrippa had the Gospel explained to him and he chose to reject it.  “Thou almost persuadest me”, what a tragic loss that would say his knowledge of what Christ did on the cross wasn’t enough for him to believe.  As a king he would know what it is like to have people bow before you.  I just cant imagine how horrible he is going to feel when he has to kneel before God the King of kings and confess and beg and plea for a second chance only to find that he missed his opportunity, he was almost persuaded but not quite.

Tomorrow's Reading: Acts 27-28
