1 Corinthians 2:13–16
13 Which things also we speak, not in the words which man’s wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual. 14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. 15 But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man. 16 For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.
There is a huge difference between human wisdom and God’s wisdom. God’s wisdom has nothing to do with pride or cleverness. It is about perceiving spiritual truth. If the secular rulers had possessed such insight they would never have crucified Jesus. And yet God’s wisdom is most clearly seen in situations of weakness and suffering.
It is God’s Spirit who knows God’s wisdom, just as a person’s thoughts are known to that person alone. I am so glad this same Spirit has been given to every Christian. We should all be thankful as we confess that it is God’s Spirit within us that gives us spiritual wisdom and shows us the thoughts and purposes of Christ.
Let us move forward with confidence knowing that anything done for Christ will not come from mans skill or wisdom but by the all mighty hand of a gracious God.
